Boutique Hotels - Montpelier Plantation & Beach

Overview

This Relais & Chateaux exclusive boutique hotel was once an 18th century sugar plantation and has two unique experiences for guests: The Plantation, housing luxury guest accommodation, three gourmet dining options and the hotel pool with its living wall of art … and The Beach, exclusive for hotel guests with private cabanas and bar lounge deck. Privately owned and managed by the Hoffman family who have established a programme of continual upgrading and improvement, with impeccable attention to detail. A chic boutique retreat with just 16 gorgeous guest rooms, a fabulous Garden Suite, a stylish 2-bedroom Tamarind Villa and The Little House – Montpelier is considered to be one of the finest small luxury hotels in the Caribbean.

Service levels surpass all expectations with a staff to guest ratio of at least 2 to 1 – the Montpelier team will always go that extra mile to ensure that their guests feel warmly welcomed. With a choice of restaurants Montpelier’s chefs produce consistently high levels of cuisine creating menus with local and contemporary inspiration.

Access to Nevis is easy via sister island St Kitts with British Airways direct services from London Gatwick, and a seamless connection by road and water taxi to Montpelier. No fast food outlets, little in the way of shopping, limited nightlife and no traffic lights … just a slow and unhurried pace. For eco-tourists and those who enjoy stunning natural beauty, Nevis cannot fail to please.

The Beach – guests have exclusive use of the hotel’s private beach which is a 15 minute drive from the hotel to the Caribbean sea. The complimentary shuttle leaves the hotel daily at approximately 10.30 am and guests arrange their preferred return time. There are 6 new private cabanas offering shade and seclusion, a bar and lounge decking area with oversized couches for relaxation, a beach attendant for beverage service and changing facilities with bathroom/shower.

NB: The hotel has a number of steps that under certain circumstances could make it difficult for some guests.

Rooms

Premier Rooms

Semi-detached cottages house the spacious premier rooms which are dotted along the edge of the hillside, with views across the valley to the ocean in the distance. Each room has tiled floors with white washed walls, mahogany writing desk and cedar lined wardrobes, louvered windows and a door leading onto a private terrace. The spacious bathrooms have full size bath with overhead shower, welcome amenity pack including cotton wool buds, shoe sponge, shower cap, sewing kit, shampoo, conditioner and bath gel.

Plantation Rooms

These elegant rooms, all with king size beds, offer a little more luxury for guests. The amenities are the same as the premier category, but there are new tiles and wooden floors, restyled décor throughout and a chic modern look to the bathrooms including vessel sinks, seductive lighting, solid oak tops, and temperature controlled showers with rain-shower heads.

The Garden Suite

A fabulous spacious split-level suite consisting of an open bedroom and sitting room which blends contemporary styling with old plantation charm. With farm raised bamboo flooring, a large walk in rain fall shower, four-poster king size bed, and wide jalousie windows that allow the air to flow through the room providing a natural cooling breeze. Modern conveniences have not been spared in spite of the suite being ‘green’ – a Nespresso coffee machine, wet bar, airconditioning, iPod docking station and wifi access is available. There is also a private outdoor Gazebo offering a garden sanctuary with fabulous views of the hills and the sea, surrounded by lush vegetation and an oversized couch with large throw pillows – luxury and nature in perfect harmony.Note: an adjacent Plantation room can be combined with The Garden Suite to create a 2-bedroom Suite.

Tamarind Villa

Stylish separate 2-bedroom cottage decorated in chic Plantation style, with views over the lawn and out to sea on one side, and Nevis Peak with Nelson’s Lookout on the other side. Spacious living room opening onto two covered porches and the open sun deck, and an inviting 9 x 7 foot plunge pool. Full entertainment centre with Internet, TV, DVD, CD and MP3 station, wet bar, Nespresso coffee machine and separate kettle for “Revolution” tea. Two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and semi outdoor showers with views of Nevis Peak and bathtub. Air-conditioned bedrooms and ceiling fans throughout.

The Little House

The Little House is an old Nevisian style house dating back to the late 1700’s. The House is a one minute walk from the hotel’s main great room as this villa is situated on its own two acres of land giving breath-taking views of both the Caribbean sea and Nevis peak. The Little House has been restored keeping its old charm but adding modern touches. All the bedrooms and the living room have air-conditioning. The master bedroom has a king bed and the second bedroom had two single beds. The Little house has a full kitchen that can be stocked by the hotel upon request. There’s also a 30" flat screen TV, DVD player, stereo and internet access. The bedrooms are detached from the sitting room and offer added privacy with a shared bathroom.
